Wanting to have a better grasp on off-camera lighting? Join us for our latest PPA Super One Day offering: One Light, Two Lights, Three Lights, Four!
This hands-on course is designed to teach all aspects of lighting, from very basic one-light setups through complex multiple light sets using gels, fog, and more!
We will cover the foundations of portrait lighting, both in studio and outdoors.
Starting with just one light, we’ll discuss the four common lighting patterns: split, Rembrandt, loop (with variations), and butterfly; and we’ll demystify broad and short lighting. We’ll demonstrate how to analyze facial features in order to determine the best lighting for your client, making your clients look their best. We’ll go over different types of lights and light modifiers; and we’ll demonstrate how each will affect the final look and feel of the portrait.
Adding in a second light adds depth and dimension to an image. Once students gain an understanding of what to look for with a two light setup, we’ll move outdoors! These same principals apply to location portraits with only one physical light, as we’ll use the sun and/or ambient light as our second light.
By the end of the class, students will be able to create stunning salable images using multiple light sources in a variety of situations. By adding light to environmental portraits, students will distinguish themselves from the competition with a unique look that can’t be captured with natural light alone.
BONUS! All Super 1 Day attendees will receive the PPA bonus pack, featuring offers and discounts from several photographic companies.
