On May 18, The Shoot Space was a proud host for Professional Photographers of America’s “Super 1 Day”. Twice a year, photographers from around the country partner with PPA and open their doors to host workshops that run the gamut from shooting weddings to business and marketing. This day of nationwide learning is called PPA Super 1 Day. The Shoot Space hosted Jeff Poole and Lori Unruh as they taught fundamentals of lighting in their all-day course, “1 Light, 2 Lights, 3 Lights, 4!”
Using live models with professional hair and makeup styling, Jeff and Lori demonstrated basic lighting setups using one light. They explored the classic lighting patterns, showing students how to set up lights, including what to look for and what to avoid. Next, they worked in various lighting modifiers such as softboxes, grids, and reflectors for varying depth and dimension. Students worked with the models hands-on to replicate and practice with various lighting patterns.
By the end of the day, students were shooting complex lighting patterns both indoors and outdoors, using stripbanks, grids, snoots, octaboxes, curved reflectors, gels, ringlights, and more!
After attending so many workshops with “big Names” I found yours to exceed my expectations, and set a new standard by which others will be measured. Dr. Gary Hinrichs, course attendee
