2 Day Shoot and Edit Workshop!

Lori Unruh Photography Education

Saturday December 2nd // Sunday December 3rd 2017
The Shoot Space is proud to present a Lightroom workshop titled, “Lightroom – More than Image Processing” with a half day bonus workshop for lighting and posing.

Course Description:

Day 1: Fundamentals of Lighting and Posing (4 hours)

This course is designed to teach all aspects of lighting, from very basic one-light setups through complex multiple light sets!  We will cover the foundations of portrait lighting. Starting with just one light, we’ll discuss the four common lighting patterns; split, Rembrandt, loop (with variations), and butterfly; and we’ll demystify broad and short lighting. We’ll demonstrate how to analyze facial features in order to determine the best lighting for your client, making your clients look their best.

We’ll go over different types of lights and light modifiers; and we’ll demonstrate how each will affect the final look and feel of the portrait.  We’ll demonstrate how to create a three light look by using one physical light as a main and using the ambient and sunlight as fill and kicker lights.

By the end of the class students will be able to create stunning saleable images using multiple light sources in a variety of situations.  By adding light to environmental portraits, students will distinguish themselves from the competition with a unique look that can’t be captured with natural light alone.

Day 2:  All About Lightroom! (Full day)

Part 1: Foundations in File Management & Processing
In Part 1 of this Lightroom workshop, you’ll explore file management and processing, delving into the host of workflow problems that digital photography creates. Then discuss file organization, resolution, conversion, processing, and more. In this course, you will cover not only the essential Lightroom functions of file processing and conversion, but also its more sophisticated uses such as integrations with Photoshop, and creating and using presets for workflow streamlining. Finally, you’ll walk through catalogs and learn better file culling. You’ll even come up with a file organization and backup strategy to wipe out that hot mess of files on your hard drive!

Part 2: Integrated Workflow Solutions
In the second half of this Lightroom workshop, you apply the knowledge learned in Part 1 to create a workflow that is both practical and user-friendly. You’ll dig deeper into Lightroom’s metadata-cataloguing capabilities to help you market your photography. Discover how to keep your portfolio of favorite images maintained in real time with little effort, integrate outsourcing, handle in-person sales, maintain your online galleries, share files and even upload directly to social platforms! This workshop is all about doing what you do, better and easier! Lori and Jeff are here to give you a fuller understanding of Lightroom and show you how leverage its functions to make your life easier and save time. Whether you’re learning Lightroom for the first time, or you’re a seasoned pro ready to move beyond the Develop module, this course is for you.
